The man stepped into the department store and took a quick look around. He was there for one thing, and he wanted to make it snappy. He never really cared for Valentine’s Day, seeing it as a mandate from society telling him how to love. How could the rules of a holiday determine how and when he expressed his love for her? He wanted to do that in his own timing. His own way. But here he was, joining ranks with all the other husbands who succumbed to the demands of the day. Looking around, he noticed signs pointing him to displays of chocolates and jewelry telling him just how to celebrate and just how much to spend. How do I love God??? I love Him by spending time with Him. It's a daily decision to do this - to be with Him. I could be doing a million and one things, and sometimes I do get sidetracked, but my ultimate goal is to know Him. I can only do that through reading His Word; through prayer; through worship; through obeying Him, and especially listening for Him to speak to me. The last one is very difficult for most of us, me included. But when we finally slow down enough to actually hear His voice - Wow!!! How incredible that He would even want us to bask in His love; that we could even be so blessed to be able to. It is my goal this year to do just that - listen to Him and just be still long enough to actually hear Him. 2/18/2013 03:15:24 am
