![]() If you know your Bible, you’re probably familiar with “big name” folk like Moses, David and Paul. And, you may also know what work they were famous for. Moses, for example, brought the Israelites out of Egypt and right to the edge of the Promised Land. David was a great king who led God’s people victoriously through countless battles, and Paul spread the message of salvation to the early Christian church. God used each of these men to accomplish great tasks for mankind. But does the name Bezalel ring a bell? Does the work he did for the Lord have a place engraved in your memory? Probably not. Click here to read more ... ![]() _ A local politician came to my door a few years back, he shook my hand and asked for my vote. When I asked if he was Republican or Democrat, he said Democrat and inquired why his party affiliation would matter in a municipal election. I said that it mattered to me because most of my voting is centered on the abortion issue. Since the political platform of the Democratic Party is primarily “pro-death” when it comes to abortion, I don’t vote that way. And I told my politician plainly so. I honestly couldn’t think of the politically correct word, so I used "pro-death." It's the word I know to be most accurate anyway. The man took on a paternal tone, squarely looked at me in the eye and corrected me saying, “Pro-choice.” Click here to read more... ![]() Growing up, my brother and I fought like cats and dogs. Tease, tease, tease; bug, bug, bug; it’s mine, mine, mine – that was pretty much our life. It wasn’t until our college years that the two of us formed a sort of unspoken truce. We weren’t the best of friends, but little by little, our relationship healed. Still, in spite of all this, I was little surprised by something he whispered in my ear on my wedding day. It was during a sweet, congratulatory hug, that the words “I love you” raced from his lips, past my flowing veil, through my poofy hair-do and on into my unsuspecting ear. I was shocked, but you know, the words were perfect for the moment, the day … the memory. My brother had chosen just the right thing to say at just the right time – it was a word fitly spoken. Click here to read more ... ![]() I was talking to the receptionist at the doctor’s office the other day when a country sign behind the desk caught my eye. “It’s All Good,” it read, and it made me feel warm inside. When I asked the receptionist about it, she smiled and told me the story. “Oh, that’s what our doctor always says. And last year, at the craft festival, one of our staff found it and knew she had to buy it for our office.” I liked that, a doctor with an “It’s All Good” motto. That should keep things cheery around the office right? I’ve heard other people use this phrase when they're talking about the trials of life. It kind of adds a positive spin on things and always lifts me up a bit. I have to admit though, when I thought about the doctor I had some doubts creep in.
