The snake in my strawberry patch stealthily slithered underneath a pile of black plastic just a few feet from where I stood. Its friend must have had the same idea, because it hightailed it towards the weedy shelter of the raspberries just a moment later. I watched the pattern of the snake’s scales as it slithered in, complaining about my invasion with a rattled hiss. There was something about the snakes that made my skin crawl. Even though they were most likely nonvenomous, they still made me want to ban the berry patches from my garden adventures. Maybe I’ll forgo the joy of having fresh berries on my cereal this summer. Or, maybe I’ll even give up the wholesomeness of garden tomatoes, corn and beans since the snakes are likely to invade that area too. I mean, if they’ve taken over the garden, you can count me out, right? Click here to read more on this Christian Blog ... 6/2/2012 01:06:17 am
Absolutely loved this post, Deb. This sentence says it all, "Since Satan's primary weapon is the lie, your defense against him is the truth. Dealing with Satan is not a power encounter; it's a truth encounter. When you expose Satan's lie with God's truth, his power is broken." 6/7/2012 07:38:27 am
Glad you liked it. Have you read any of Neil T.Anderson? That's where this quote comes from.

Debbie - I needed this "right on time" word from the Word. Not only is it true in our personal battles but the ones we fight out in the world. "Snakes" are not an everyday occurrence. They really come about unexpectedly thrusting themselves into our everyday routines. We can't grow faint and sometimes we will actually have to go out and fight. The truth withstands all assaults. Praise God and thank you for a powerful devotion. 6/7/2012 08:28:55 am
Glad you liked it Joanne. So appreciate your comment. The other day, I was transplanting some of my younger raspberry plants and all was quiet in my snake-infested patch. I was thinking everything was just fine when I felt the Lord say: "Don't get comfortable, remember where you are." Hmmm .... this can so apply to life right?

Its funny I should read this devotional tonight. After this week in court with my daughter going for visitation with her kids(she hasn't seen them since early last Nov) we feared a lot of things....but my favorite thing to do when fear threatens to overtake me is go to Deut and Isaiah and read....and it usually helps. Tx for reminding me that fear is from the father of lies....ALWAYS! 6/7/2012 07:30:05 am
Lori, so glad this post could help you during such a crucial time in your life! The only big thing about the devil is his mouth. Comments are closed.
