By Debra Torres The roads were bad, and my teenager had a feeling that going back out to his friend’s house might not be a good idea. Already, he had practically lost control in an icy spot at the crossing of some lonely country roads. But my son made the choice to go. He and his friends were working on a project for school, and he wanted to get it done. The boys finished their project, and my son and a friend approached the same crossroads in our truck. It was a few hours later and probably a few degrees colder. And the icy spot was waiting for them. The steering and brakes were useless on it, and our truck slammed hard into the road’s icy bank. You know things are bad when ... Click here to read more Who is God? God knows better than you and me how to answer our prayers. Because of who he is, our ways cannot even compare. Asking God is the right thing to do, but telling him what do is not. God is mighty. Don't ever forget that.

There's the old adage that says that in order for us to make God laugh we just have to tell Him our plans. Well, it probably makes Him hysterical when we tell him we know more than He does. It started with Eve when she said, "You know, Lord, I really like what you've done with the place. The flowers are gorgeous with all those colors and the like. You've really outdone yourself. And the fruits...love them mangos and pineapples. They are simply fantastic but I've just got to say that you've made the mango pit a little too big. You could've left room for more fruit." But on the other hand, He is also saddened when someone looks at their face and feels that God has made a mistake and it needs changes. The love they need for themselves is just not where it should be. 1/20/2014 05:21:57 am
Thanks for the comment, Ramon. It is an interesting subject. And lately, I'm beginning to catch myself praying direction prayers more and more. At least we're a bit more aware of it now and can say - in your timing or as you will it, God. I can feel myself letting go a bit more and I know that's a good thing! 1/20/2014 05:13:49 am
This is an excellent post. You really take the time to deeply explore our relationship with God in prayer. One way I make this exact error is to carefully lay out my plans and then ask God to guide me... when what I really want is his blessing on what I've already decided. Interesting that I found this post on Google+. I just finished writing a January 21 post for my blog ( www.everydayservant.com ) on the topic of asking God for praise instead of praising Him in prayer. Thanks for the Blog! I'll keep watching for your posts! 1/20/2014 05:24:20 am
