The email came as a surprise and after reading it, I felt like I had been punched in the gut. A woman who had been receiving email updates from my Christian Devotional blog had decided to unsubscribe and her reason left me deflated. Her comment went something like this: “Sorry… your writing is just not speaking to my heart.” Ouch. It was a blow, and it took me a few days to recover. Don't give up! We don't do what we do for the hecklers, we do it for the rest of the audience who are getting something out of it!

When we are criticized, instead of instantly reacting, step back and take a few days to consider it. Consider who it came from and use this as an opportunity to improve instead of feeling defeated right away. Sometimes the criticism is needed, other times the person who has criticized is in the wrong. The situation may be a test from God to see how you would handle it.

I am always interested in seeing what Scripture you will post to encourage your readers. I liked it that today's - as well as other days - has something from the New Testament and the Old. Do you know of any teaching from Jesus on this subject? Just curious... Comments are closed.
