It was a crisp fall morning as I drove through the small town. Even though it was raining, I still enjoyed this whimsical time of the year when leaves fly through the air like giant colored snowflakes. As I surveyed the town’s quaint shops, my eyes met ghoulishly drawn window paintings and I quickly glanced away, remembering the season... Click here to read more...

I agree with you! However what does one do when they have come to Christ at an older age 50+ and have raised kids differently... how do I explain to my 14 yr old that Halloween is not just about dressing up and having fun when all the other kids are doing so???

Thanks for sharing! I hate the day, too, and I do not look forward to the dress-up day even if it's little kids doing it. 10/29/2011 08:36:49 am
Deb and Darlene, thanks for sharing and reading! Deb, I think I would go easy on him, making the transition little by little each year. And, I would definitely sit down with him and read to him - or have him read a little on the history of the holiday itself. Or, better yet, have him Google it and find out for himself what all the fuss is about. Darlene, yeah, I have a hard time with it too. Little kids in devil costumes...somethings wrong with that picture! 10/30/2012 06:31:54 am

So glad you read it! I actually wrote this last year, but I know that all the info still applies. It's so amazing to me how people can't see how dark this holiday is. But, I loved it myself way back when - so I'm no better. Just glad for deeper revelation. Yes, pass it on!

Yes, it's origins are downright evil - nothing about it please the Lord. 11/1/2012 05:42:25 am
Right on, Anna. I love it when folks just "get it." And you certainly do. I think most of us have great, big blinders on concerning this holiday. Satan likes it that way, I'm sure. Praying that your husband would come to know Jesus. Don't ever stop interceding for him!

Thank you Debra! Praying for many, many years (31 to be exact!), and not stopping. No way, no how! Comments are closed.
