My daughter’s sweet tooth got the better of me the other day when I gave in to her request for a cookie. Even though I knew we were headed to some sweet treats at the grocery store, I thought I’d allow her one little indulgence. Opening the bulk-sized box of Oreos in our cupboard, I was shocked at what I saw. There were nearly ten tubes of opened, untied packages of Oreos with varying amounts of cookies in each one. Horrified at the waste, I called my Oreo-loving son, certain that he would know something about the situation. “Oh yeah,”he said, “those cookies kept taking longer to soak up the milk when I dunked, so I just kept opening new packs.” “You mean you did nothing to take care of the cookies?” I asked, not doing a very good job at keeping my anger in check, “No twisty, no baggy, no nothing?” Ugh, what a waste. Instead of taking care of each opened tube of cookies so they wouldn’t go stale, my son just went on to a new one each time the crunch disappeared. Click here to read more of this Christian blog ...

There must be something in the water in America. The rough spot in the road happens repeatedly to everyone. Nancy ad I have been married 44 years in August. We made a decision at the alter that there is no such thing as divorce. That has saved us repeatedly. The closer we get, the more rubbing takes to make us fit...it hurts! It is worth it. Our kids are gone and we still have reasons to run away...we decide to stay. It only gets better. 6/25/2012 08:29:14 am
Love this comment, Richard. It's so true, and I think it just builds up people to say that we all struggle and things are never perfect all the time. And you're right, on the other side of the fence, it only gets better. Our marriages are stronger for the "staying" and so are we. Appreciate your input.

Thanks for your see-throughness, Debbie. It's a splendid reminder that love is much more an act of the will than the mere flutter of the heart. Keep up the great work! 6/25/2012 09:49:36 am
Your welcome, Erin. I figure that if transparency can help others then so be it. Especially if the message is communicated tactfully. I hope I achieve that here. Thanks for reading and commenting. Your input is very valuable to me!
My husband I will be celebrating our our 35th year of marriage in October and yes, there have been times when our relationship felt stale, but the good news is that with a little time and attention, freshness can be restored to a marriage. Comments are closed.
