as the mother of a very tall young woman, I fought the clothing battles daily when she was a child. not only did the 'latest' fashions look too revealing in cut but too short in length. from shirt hem and sleeve to pant inseam and rise. we blamed the clothing manufacturers and searched all over to find things that didn't cut into her while she climbed trees or bare her middle when she stood! we came up with a set of rules for the clothing, not for her. I wanted her to know the clothes were the problem and not her! at 20 yrs old and in college, she goes with the flow more now, mismatched socks and neon color undergarments. All in fun but she know that the clothes reflect her and not the other way around.

Having never had to deal with the issue of kids and clothes this is a bit of a foriegn (sp?) problem for me. It would be, somewhat, easy to blame the world and it's standards as well as the designers but I think there's an underlying attitude that isn't being addressed. 12/7/2012 06:36:38 am
